Ito House is a renovation of an existing home on a hill and an annex extension of a bathhouse in the lower garden. A bespoke accommodation in the quiet seaside town of Ito, with a second floor suite and Japanese tatami rooms and a western living room with views to the Sagami Bay.
The house and the bathhouse uses quintessential Japanese materials from the yaki-sugi (charred cedar) to towada stone.
From the street, the house sits atop a small hill with layered yaki-sugi walls cloaking the property in privacy, bringing to mind the historical castles of Japan. Within one of the layers of the walls hides a semi-outdoor bathhouse with views to a secluded Japanese garden.
